APCS can submit basic disclosure applications to the Disclosure and Barring Service or Disclosure Scotland. It is also important to understand the difference. Basic Disclosures only include unspent convictions, as defined in the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. The Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1074 sets out rehabilitation periods after which convictions may become spent. Different rehabilitation periods apply in England/Wales and Scotland.

Applications submitted to the Disclosure and Barring Service will be processed under the rehabilitation periods that apply in England/Wales. Applications submitted to the Disclosure Scotland will be processed under the rehabilitation periods that apply in Scotland.

The Disclosure and Barring Service charge £18 for a basic check and Disclosure Scotland charge £25 for a basic check. We charge an administration fee on top of this.
